Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation
GF07.04-P-6060MIR Component Description For The Pressure Sensor
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The pressure sensor is located at the top left of the cylinder head and is connected to the intake manifold by a rubber hose.
Task
The pressure sensor detects the absolute pressure (intake manifold air pressure) in the intake manifold. The intake manifold air pressure serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) when starting the engine for recognizing the air mass and for a running engine for monitoring the measured air mass.
Component Identification:
Function
The intake manifold air pressure bends the diaphragm, which then acts on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the signal voltage which serves the ME control unit as information about the intake manifold air pressure.
