Variable Induction Position Sensor: Description and Operation
GF07.04-P-6230MIR Component Description For The Position Sensor Tumble Flap
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The position sensors are located at the rear on the variable intake manifold, above the tumble flap shafts.
Task
The position sensors recognize the mechanical end positions of the tumble flap shafts.
Design
The position sensors each consist of a Hall sensor with integrated electronics, cast into a plastic housing with a 3-pin plug connection.
Function
The swivel range of the tumble flaps between completely swiveled in or out is approx. 56 °.
Two cylinder magnets with different polarities are attached to each tumble flap spindle.
After swiveling out of the tumble flaps, one of the cylinder solenoids stands in front of the Hall sensors and the signal voltage is about 0 V (tumble flaps actuated).
Swivel the tumble flaps back again, in the rest position the other (differently poled) cylinder solenoids stand in front of the Hall sensors. The signal voltage is now about 5 V (tumble flaps not actuated).
The signal voltages of the position sensors are evaluated by the ME- SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
The position sensors must emit a signal voltage no later than approx. 5 ° before the respective limit position. On tolerance grounds they must issue a signal voltage for up to about 16° before the limit position.
