Component Identification:

Location
The left antenna amplifier module is mounted to the left front roof frame.

Task
The left antenna amplifier module receives the signals from antennas 1 and 2 in the windshield and forwards them. In detail, the left antenna amplifier module has the following tasks:
^ Receiving, amplifying and forwarding FM1 radio signals
^ Receiving and forwarding AM radio signals
^ Receiving, amplifying and forwarding Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS) radio signals in the FM band, with code (498) Japan version Receiving, amplifying and forwarding of TV signals, with code (863) Digital/analog TV tuner or code (865) TV tuner
^ Receiving and forwarding of DAB band III signals, with code (537) Digital radio and code (833) Great Britain version

Receiving, amplifying and forwarding FM1 radio signals
The FM1 radio signals from the antennas in the windshield are received via a direct line, filtered, amplified and then forwarded via another direct line to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).

Receiving and forwarding AM radio signals
The AM radio signals received via the rear shelf antenna amplifier (A2/67) using a direct line are filtered and forwarded to the COMAND controller unit via the same line, as with the FM1 radio signals.

Receiving, amplifying and forwarding VICS radio signals in the FM band, with code (498) Japan version
The VICS radio signals from the antennas in the windshield are received via a direct line, amplified and then forwarded to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via the same direct line, as with the FM1/AM radio signals.

Receiving, amplifying and forwarding of TV signals, with code (863) Digital/analog TV tuner or code (865) TV tuner
The TV signals from the antennas in the windshield are received via 2 direct lines, amplified, filtered and then forwarded via another 2 direct lines to the TV combination tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (with code (863) Digital/analog TV tuner) or the TV digital tuner (A90/3) (with code (865) TV tuner).

Receiving and forwarding of DAB band III signals, with code (537) Digital radio and code (833) Great Britain version
The antenna in the windshield receives the DAB band III signals, which are then forwarded to the left antenna amplifier via a direct line. They are then amplified and forwarded via a direct line to the Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3).
