Task
The emergency tensioning retractor unit removes any seat belt slack in the event of a frontal impact or a rear end collision, and thereby prevents any film reel effect of the driver or front passenger seat belts.

The close-fitting seat belt means that vehicle occupants are subjected to the deceleration forces acting on the body at an earlier stage.

The emergency tensioning retractor squibs are triggered by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).
