Standing/parking lights, general
The standing lights/parking lights actuation serves the marking of the parked vehicle in darkness.
The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of the following subfunctions.

The driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) reads in the rotary light switch (S1) status directly and sends the request to switch on the rear lamps to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2
The driver SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Left standing and parking lights (E1e3)
- Right standing and parking lights (E2e3)
- Left front side-marker lamp (United States Of America) (E6/1) and right front side-marker lamp (United States Of America) (E6/2)

The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Left rear side-marker lamp (United States Of America) (E3e6) and right rear side-marker lamp (United States Of America) (E4e6)

- Left brake light, taillight and parking light (E3e9)
- Right brake light, taillight and parking light (E4e9)
- Left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2)
The active standing lights function feedback is indicated by actuation of the standing lights indicator lamp in the rotary light switch by the driver SAM control unit.

Function sequence, lights on reminder warning
The logic for actuation of the lights on reminder warning function is stored in the instrument cluster (A1).
The "standing lights actuation active" status message is sent by the driver SAM control unit, the status of the driver door by the rear SAM control unit and status circuit 15 by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) to the interior CAN.
The instrument cluster receives this information, uses it to generate a request to issue the lights on reminder warning function and actuates the warning buzzer (A1h1) for an acoustic output of the lights on reminder warning.
Parking lights actuation function sequence
The driver SAM control unit reads in the status of the rotary light switch directly and transmits a request to switch on the rear lamps to the rear SAM control unit.
Left parking lights
The driver SAM control unit actuates the left standing and parking lights.
The rear SAM control unit actuates the left brake light, taillight and parking light.
Right parking lights
The driver SAM control unit actuates the right standing and parking lights.
The rear SAM control unit actuates the right brake light, taillight and parking light.
