1 Wrap felt tape around branch-off line of center instrument panel speaker (a) of the Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3).
2 Connect black 44-pin plug (6) of Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3) to black 44-pin coupling (7) of vehicle wiring harness.
3 Remove black, 2-pin coupling for optical fiber (11) from black, 44-pin coupling (7), and install in black, 44-pin coupling (4).
Only in vehicles with one of the following codes:
- Code (518) Media interface
- Code (537) Digital radio
- Code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio
4 Route Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3) to left lower radio recess.
The black, 44-pin coupling (4) is connected to the radio at a later stage. The Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3) obstructs the installation of the radio because of its size.
The radio can only be installed if the Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3) is as low down as possible in the rear area of the automatic air conditioning control and operating unit.
5 Route black, 32-pin coupling (5) of Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3) into the front passenger footwell.
The black, 32-pin coupling (5) is connected to the Universal Media Interface control unit at a later stage.
6 Route black, 2-pin plug (10) and black, 2-pin coupling (9) of Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness (3), as shown, through the cable duct of the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) display wiring harness to the installation location of the center instrument panel speaker.
7 Detach center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
Only on vehicles with code (810) Sound system.
8 Detach black, 2-pin coupling (8) from center instrument panel speaker (H4/27).
Only on vehicles with code (810) Sound system.
9.1 Connect black, 2-pin plug (10) of Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness to black, 2-pin coupling of vehicle wiring harness.
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system.
The black 2-pin coupling was connected to the center instrument panel speaker (H4/27).
9.2 Strap down black, 2-pin plug (10) and fasten using felt tape into installation opening of center instrument panel speaker (H4/27).
In vehicles Without code (810) Sound system.
10 Connect black 2-pin coupling (9) to instrument panel center speaker (H4/27).
11 Insert center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) into support and tighten using bolts (11).
