Audio system, general
The following components are available for control of the audio system:
- Control buttons on the radio (A2)
- Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) (call basic menu and make settings)
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) (volume, telephone functions)
These operating instructions consist of the following basic functions:

Menu "Radio"
The "Radio" menu is activated using the "Radio" hardkey, the application executed last is started. If a different application is to be started, the "Radio" hardkey must be pressed repeatedly until the required menu item is selected in the "Radio" menu.
The "RADIO" menu subfunction comprises the following additional subfunctions:
^ Radio
^ Satellite Digital Audio Radio (satellite radio) (SDAR) (with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio)
Radio
The menu item Radio in the "RADIO" menu can be activated with the "RADIO" hardkey. The default screen appears. The following are shown on the audio/COMAND display (A40/8):
- Status bar
- Current station frequency
- Application field
- Stations currently receivable and numbers of their memory locations (station name with radio broadcast data system (RBDS) or frequency)
- Function bar
- "Radio", "Presets" and "Sound"
The "RADIO" hardkey can be used to switch between the following radio frequency bands:
- "FM" (frequency modulation)
- "AM" (amplitude modulation)
- "WB" (weather band)
In the following menu items, the corresponding submenus can be called on the audio/COMAND display:
- "Radio" menu item
- Station list (only for FM and in SDAR mode (with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio))
- "Enter Frequency"
- "Fix frequency" "RBDS" (for FM only)
- "Station information"
- "Presets" menu item

- "Stored stations" (0 to 9 (total of 10))

Satellite Digital Audio Radio (satellite radio) (SDAR) (with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio)
The menu item "Sat radio" in the "RADIO" menu can be activated with the "RADIO" hardkey. The default screen appears. The following are shown on the audio/COMAND display:
- Status bar
- Name of set "Category"
- Application field
- "Category", stations currently to be received and number of their memory locations
- Function bar
- "Sat radio", "Presets", "Category", "Info" and "Sound"
In the following menu items, the corresponding submenus can be called on the audio/COMAND display:

Menu "Disc"
The "DISC" menu can be activated with the "DISC" hardkey. The application last executed is started. If a different application is to be started, the "Disc" hardkey must be pressed repeatedly until the required menu item is selected in the "Disc" menu. The "Disc" menu subfunction comprises the following additional subfunctions:

The "CD" menu item in the "DISC" menu can be activated with the "DISC" hardkey. The default screen appears. The following are shown on the audio/COMAND display:

Basic function 6 disc CD changer (with code (510) Audio 20 incl. CD changer)
"CD eject and load button" is actuated. The default screen appears.
Selection possibilities in menu:
- Back
- Previous menu is called up
- Eject all
- All inserted CDs are automatically ejected one after the other
- Fill empty locations
- Magazine can be filled
CDs which are ejected but not removed are automatically pulled back in after expiration of a certain time.
"TEL" menu
The "TEL" menu can be activated with the "TEL" hardkey. The default screen appears.
The following are shown on the audio/COMAND display:
- Status bar
- Field strength of mobile telephone network, ready display or letter symbol for Short Message Service (SMS) (with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface USA/ Canada)
- Application field
- Symbol representing a mobile phone keypad and speller with characters for entering call numbers
- Function bar

The settings can be made or selected with the buttons on the radio, on the audio/COMAND control panel or the multifunction steering wheel button groups.
Bluetooth-capable devices can only be connected to the radio if they support Hands Free Profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5.
Read access to the phone book of the mobile phone is provided if the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth Phonebook Access Profile (PBAP). Otherwise, the entries in the telephone book on the mobile phone can be transferred to the radio only by means of "vCards".
"Settings" menu
The system settings can be activated with the "SYS" hardkey. The default screen appears. The following are shown on the audio/ COMAND display:

The sound settings can be activated with the "Tone settings" hardkey or by selecting the menu item "Sound" in the current menu. The default screen appears. The following are shown on the audio/COMAND display:
