"TV" function
The liquid crystal display (LCD) of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) is used for television reception. TV reception is activated by pressing the "TV" button.

The TV single tuner is integrated in the COMAND, operating, display and controller unit.

The audio signals are transmitted via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1), where they are amplified and the stored sound settings are prepared accordingly. The amplified audio signals are then forwarded to the vehicle speakers and emitted there. The audio signals can be played back in stereo or mono.

Searching and storing stations
In TV mode, the stations can be found and stored using the following functions:
^ Automatic station search
^ Station search using list of stations
^ Station configuration through channel selection
^ Station selection by entering channels directly
^ Station selection from station memory

It is possible to store up to 10 stations.

"TV mute" function
The mute status of the audio sources is activated via the "Mute" button and retained if the function was activated before the COMAND operating, display and controller unit was last switched off.

Displaying mute status in the TV screen
A Mute symbol appears in the top right of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit display if Mute status is active. In order to allow the Mute status to be displayed on the TV screen, the Mute status must be transmitted to the TV tuner that is integrated in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit by means of a newly generated command. The setting which was performed last before switching off the ignition, is adopted when the ignition is switched on again.

"Video" function
The DVD ROM drive of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit supports playback of video DVDs and video CDs.

In doing so, the picture is shown on the LCD color display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit, after the "TV" button has been pressed and the "Video DVD" or "Video CD" submenu has been activated. An MP3 player can be operated in the "AUX" submenu.

The "TV", "Video DVD" and "Video CD" functions can only be used if the vehicle is stationary and the parking brake has been applied.
