Ignition OFF, general points
For ignition OFF, first the engine and then the engine control is switched off in the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

Ignition OFF function sequence
If the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) receives the signal "circuit 15 OFF" via the relay terminal 15 (K40/2kB) the engine is switched off through cutting out the fuel injection valves (Y62) and the ECI ignition module on the right and left cylinder bank (N92/1, N92/2) and computer power-down is started.

Computer power-down is determined by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit and lasts about 5 s. It can, however, last for some minutes due to various functions (such as OBD, DAS 3, thermal management). When computer power-down is completed, the motor electronics and chassis relay (K40/4kK) is switched off and the engine control is disconnected from the on-board electrical system (switched off).

System tests are conducted by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit during the computer power-down and the fault memory is updated.
