GF82.30-P-3004RI Windshield Wiper, Function

General function requirements
^ C. 15R On

Wiping windshield, general
The windshield wiping function keeps the windshield free of water, snow, etc.

Windshield wiping comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Touch wiping function sequence
^ Automatic wiper control function sequence
^ Function sequence of wiping at specified speed

Touch wiping function sequence
The touch wiping function is activated as follows:
- Single wiping: For single touch wiping, briefly push combination switch (S4) as far as the detent point.
- Repeated wiping: When operated for a longer period of time, wiping takes place corresponding to the length of operation.

Touch wiping is then always performed in the current speed stage. If the wiper is not located in the rest position, the combination switch request is ignored.
The position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column tube module (N80) and transmitted to the interior CAN. The driver SAM control unit (N10/10) senses the required data and actuates the wiper motor (M6/1) accordingly.

Automatic wiper control function sequence
Turning the combination switch to position "1" switches on the automatic wiper control.
The request is read in by the steering column tube module and transmitted to the interior CAN.
The rain/light sensor (B38/2) then uses the degree of wetting to calculate the frequency of required wipes.
The request by the rain/light sensor is sent via the overhead control panel control unit (N70) to the driver SAM control unit, which then actuates the corresponding wiper motor.

Function sequence of wiping at specified speed
By turning the combination switch to position "2" (continuous wipe with slow speed) or to position "3" (continuous wipe with fast speed), the continuous wipe function is switched on.

The position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column tube module and transmitted to the interior CAN. The driver SAM control unit senses the required data and actuates the wiper motor accordingly
