Save/retrieve function description of multicontour seat (MCS [MKS]) seat position, general
The pressures adjusted in the multicontour cushions of the driver seat as well as the position of the dynamics button can be stored in a non-volatile memory by the left front multicontour backrest control unit (N32/15) and retrieved again. The stored positions are saved and retrieved via the memory switch (S91/2s9), the memory 1 switch (S91/2s6), the memory 2 switch (S91/2s7), or the memory 3 switch (S91/2s8) of the left seat adjustment switch group (S91/2).
Saving/retrieving the multicontour seat position function (MCS [MKS]) is described on the driver seat for left-hand drive vehicles by way of an example, but this also applies for the front passenger seat.
While saving, not only the seat cushion contour but also the position of the seat adjustment, the steering column, and the two outside mirrors on the driver-side are stored. The instrument cluster (A1) confirms saving with an acknowledge sound.
The status of the switches is read in by the left door control unit (N69/1) and transmitted via interior CAN to the left front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1). When the left front multicontour backrest control unit receives a request for saving from the left front seat adjustment control unit with memory via the serial interface, the pressure values of the air cushions are stored in a non-volatile memory. When the memory positions are retrieved, the saved air cushion pressure values are adjusted again by the left front multicontour backrest control unit. Upon the request by the left front seat adjustment control unit with memory, it inflates/deflates the air cushions based on the saved values.
Abort conditions
- Adjustment request by the left front seat adjustment control unit with memory
The position saving function has the following structure:
^ Saving a seat contour
^ Retrieving a seat contour
Saving a seat contour
The seat contour is saved with the memory switch (S91/2s9) and via the memory 1/2/3 switch in the left seat adjustment switch group (S91/2).
There are two possibilities for storing the seat contour:
- The memory switch is held depressed and one of the memory 1/2/3 switches for the particular memory is pressed.
- The memory switch is pressed for a period of at least 100 ms and then released. Then, one of the memory 1/2/3 switches must be pressed within 0.2 s to 3 s.
It is possible to overwrite the stored values at any time. No cushion contour has been saved at the factory (cushion at minimum pressure).
It is possible to save the set cushion contour during the "Dynamic lumbar support" function (massage program). The currently set cushion contour is stored. The "Dynamic lumbar support" massage program is not interrupted.
Retrieving a seat contour
A stored seat contour can be retrieved at a later point in time by pressing the memory 1/2/3 button. A memory request made by pressing one of the memory 1/2/3 switches during the "Dynamic lumbar support" function leads to an abort of this function. After that, the requested memory position is actuated again. The "Dynamic lumbar support" function is not executed until it is requested again.
