GF88.79-P-2006RC Passenger-Side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function

GF88.79-P-2006RC Passenger-side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
- except CODE (494) USA version
- as of model year 09

Function requirements, general
^ C. 15R ON or
c. 15 ON (with automatic transmission)
^ Function in instrument cluster (A1) enabled
^ Right mirror adjustment selection switch (S50/1s7) selected
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage

Function sequence for park position of passenger side outside mirror, general
To monitor the curb while backing up, a park position of the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2) can be stored and actuated electrically.

The passenger side outside mirror park position comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Store park position function sequence
^ Actuate park position function sequence
^ Move to drive position function sequence

Store park position function sequence
First adjust desired park position for right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror manually with the outside mirror up/down, in/ out adjustment switch (S50/1s1) with right mirror adjustment selection switch activated.

The park position is stored by the left seat adjustment switch group (S22).
When the memory switch (S22s6) is actuated momentarily for t > 40 ms and then released, it is necessary to actuate the outside mirror adjustment rocker switch within t < 3 s in any direction. This causes the momentary outside mirror position to be stored as the park position in the right door control unit (N69/2).

A manual adjustment of the right outside mirror in the park position is stored as a new park position.

Function requirements for moving to park position
^ Position measurement supplies valid readings
^ Vehicle speed v < 10 km/h
^ Manual mirror adjustment not active

Actuate park position function sequence
When the transmission is shifted to reverse for t > 0.6 s the right door control unit adjusts the right mirror glass to the park position via the mirror adjustment up/down motor (M21/2m1) and mirror adjustment in/out motor (M21/2m2).
Engaging the reverse gear on vehicles with transmission 716 is sensed by the backup light switch (S16/2), which is evaluated by driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The driver-side SAM control unit transmits the information to the central gateway control unit (N93) via interior CAN.
On vehicles with automatic transmission, the fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4) (with transmission 722.9) or ETC control unit (N15/3) (with transmission 722.6) transmits the status of the reverse gear to the central gateway control unit via engine compartment CAN.
The central gateway control unit transmits the status of the reverse gear via interior CAN on all versions.

Move to drive position function sequence
The right outside mirror is automatically returned to the original position, when:
- another gear range was engaged and a time of approx. t = 10 s has elapsed or
- the vehicle speed is v > 10 km/h or
- the left outside mirror adjustment selection switch (S50/1s6) is actuated or
- the driver door is opened or
- with circuit 15 Off, when the reverse gear was not recognized for at least t > 10 s after switching circuit 15 on again.

The right outside mirror is moved to the original position even if it was adjusted manually to the park position.
