Ignition OFF, general points
For ignition OFF, first the engine and then the engine control is switched off in the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
Ignition OFF function sequence
If the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) receives the "tml. 15 OFF" signal through the terminal 15 relay (N10/1kD), the engine is switched off by shutting off the fuel injection valves (Y62) and the ECI ignition modules of the LH and RH cylinder bank (N92/1,N92/2), and computer power-down is started.
Computer power-down is determined by the ME-SFI control unit and lasts about 5 s. However, it can also last for several minutes due to various functions (for example, on-board diagnosis (OBD), drive authorization system (DAS), thermal management).
When computer power-down is complete, the engine circuit 87 relay (N10/1kC) is deenergized and the engine control is disconnected from the on-board electrical system (switched off).
System tests are conducted by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit during the computer run-on and the fault memory is updated.
The "tml. 31" ground connection runs from the on-board electrical system battery (G1) through battery ground (W10) and several ground lines to the electronic ground (LH footwell) (W34/1).
When the ignition is OFF, the ME-SFI control unit is powered by the on-board electrical system battery through "tml. 30 fused".
The following subfunction is described in the following document:
^ Refueling gas recovery function (with code (494) USA version)
