GF82.60-P-2003TX Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio
- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version

All volume and sound settings can be made on the radio (A2). A differentiation is made between audio and service sources.

Audio sources are:
^ Radio
^ CD player

Service sources include:
^ Traffic announcements
^ Telephone

Volume setting
The volume setting is regulated at the radio's rotary switch for the set audio source. In addition, this can be set separately in all the audio and service areas (telephone, traffic information radio channel). It is possible to increase or decrease the volume for the traffic information via the Traffic Program Volume softkey assignment.Using the RESET function, predefined settings for the sound parameters including volume can be selected and reset to the factory settings.

Speed-dependent volume control
The speed-dependent volume control enables the volume to be adjusted to match the vehicle speed. In doing so the vehicle speed signal is used as the benchmark.

Mute (volume reduction)
If the user actuates the "Mute" function button, then the audio source being heard at any given time is muted, or the CD changer (A2/6) or internal CD disk drive is set to the pause position. The muting function status can also be triggered automatically.
The following mutings are possible:
^ TAXI-MUTE
^ TEL-MUTE
^ DOOR-SENSOR-MUTE
^ TRAFFIC PROGRAM MUTE

If, e.g. the portable CTEL preinstallation assembly (UPCI) (Code 386) is installed, then the radio switches to the telephone mode when a call is received and mutes the audio source.

Tone setting
The radio enables manual tone settings to be made for each audio source, tone settings are:
^ Bass
^ Treble
^ Balance
^ Fader

The "AUDIO" function status can be called up from every function status, except the "AUTO-ON" function.

In display field 2, the bass is displayed as the first tone setting called up. By pressing the "AUDIO" function key repeatedly, the other tone controls for treble, balance (left/right), fader (front/rear) and volume increase for traffic announcements can be called up.

The messages of the "AUDIO" function status are shown in display field 1. The tone control only relates to the active radio function status. With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes. The settings "balance, fading" are called up by pressing the main function key for tone distribution in the left control field.

Processing of the signals for the required volume adjustments and tone adjustments is performed by the integrated audio components.

Volumes can be individually set for the information sources.
