Check Purge Line Clamps, Replace if Necessary
This Service Campaign has been initiated because DaimlerAG (DAG) has determined that the hose clamps of the purge line may not be engaged correctly. Dealers will check the clamps for correct installation and replace if necessary at the next workshop visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 538 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
1. Remove right rear wheel.
2. Remove fender liner in right rear fender (AR88.10-P-1400R).
Note (regarding above WIS instructions):
Remove only right rear wheel.
3. Check for correct engagement (locking) of "CLICK" type hose clamps (arrows, Figure 1) onto purge line hoses (A) at evaporative emissions canister (B):
^ If hose clamps (arrows, Figure 1) are properly engaged (locked) campaign is complete.
^ If hose clamps (arrows, Figure 1) are not properly engaged (locked), replace clamp(s) with only new CLICK type hose clamps (refer to parts table below).
Note:
^ Replace only the hose clamp(s) that are not properly engaged (locked).
^ Secure hose nearest to the canister using the large hose clamp (part no.: A 006 997 46 90). Secure/lock CLICK hose clamps onto hose using recommended tool or equivalent (refer below).
