GF54.65-P-5013RI PTS Ultrasonic Sensor, Component Description

GF54.65-P-5013RI PTS Ultrasonic Sensor, Component Description
- with CODE (220) PARKTRONIC

Component Identification:

Location
The front PTS ultrasonic sensors are located on the front bumper and the rear PTS ultrasonic sensors on the rear bumper.

Task
The PTS ultrasonic sensors record the distance between the vehicle and an obstacle. The data from the PTS ultrasonic sensors are read in by the PTS control unit (N62).

Function
The PTS ultrasonic sensor actuated by the PTS control unit transmits an ultrasonic signal and is ready to receive after a brief delay (time for the diaphragm movement to decay).

Every PTS ultrasonic sensor has a delay period due to technical limitations and this delay period defines the lower limit of the monitoring range. Every PTS ultrasonic sensor receives the echoes of its own ultrasound signals as well as the echoes of the ultrasound signals from adjacent PTS ultrasonic sensors. The distance between the vehicle and the obstacle is calculated from the journey time of the echoes. The detection ranges of the PTS ultrasonic sensors are club-shaped with detection angles of approx. 120° horizontal and approx. 60° vertical. The geometry of the clubshaped detection ranges can change depending on environmental influences (hot air from engine).
