GF88.79-P-2002RI Fold Left/Right Outside Mirror, Function

GF88.79-P-2002RI Fold Left/right Outside Mirror, Function
- with CODE (500) Folding left/right outside mirrors
- as of model year 09

Function requirements, general
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ No other mirror adjustment function active

Function sequence for folding down outside mirror, general
The outside mirror housings can be folded in and out electrically in pairs. This can be done both automatically as well as manually. If circuit 15R is switched off during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is nevertheless completed.

If a new housing adjustment request is recognized during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is directly switched to the opposite direction.

The outside mirror fold down function comprises the following partial functions:
^ Manual folding in/out, function sequence
^ Automatic folding in/out, function sequence

Manual folding in/out, function sequence
Manual folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Manual folding in function sequence
^ Manual folding out function sequence

Additional function requirements for manual folding in
^ Circuit 15R ON or circuit 15 ON
^ Vehicle speed v < 100 km/h
^ Last actuation was folding out

The circuit status is transmitted by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) via the interior CAN.

Manual folding in function sequence
When the outside mirror fold-in/out switch (N72s19) is actuated in the upper control panel control unit (N72) the housings can be folded in.

The adjustment request is transmitted by the upper control panel control unit via interior CAN.
The left door control unit (N69/1) then actuates the power folding mirror motor (M21/1m3) in the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1). The right door control unit (N69/2) actuates the power folding mirror motor (M21/2m3) in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2).

Additional function requirements for manual folding out
^ Circuit 15R ON or circuit 15 ON
^ Last actuation was folding in

Manual folding out function sequence
By actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch, the two housings can be folded out. The adjustment request is read in by the upper control panel control unit and transmitted via interior CAN.

The left door control unit then actuates the power folding mirror motor in the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror and the right door control unit actuates the power folding mirror motor in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror.

Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
Automatic folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Automatic folding in
^ Automatic folding out

Additional function requirements for automatic folding in
^ C. 15C OFF
^ Outside mirrors are folded out
^ Function in instrument cluster (A1) activated

Automatic folding in function sequence
When the vehicle is locked via the central locking system (CL [ZV]) from outside with the transmitter key (A8/1) both housings are folded in automatically.
The status of the CL is transmitted to the door control units by the EIS control unit via interior CAN. For their part these cause the housings to be folded in.

Additional function requirements for automatic folding out
^ Outside mirror was folded in automatically
^ CL open

Automatic folding out function sequence
The next time the driver or front passenger door is opened, both housings are folded out automatically.
The status of the doors is recognized by the left door contact switch (S17/3) and right door contact switch (S17/4).

Their status is read in by the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and transmitted via interior CAN. The door control units receive the status and actuate the power folding mirror motors accordingly.

If the housings are still folded in with c. 15R ON, the housing are folded out immediately.
