Component Identification:

Location
The floor shift is located in the center console of the vehicle.

Task
The center shifter console is the central control for changing the transmission mode, gear range and gear of the transmission.

Function
The selector lever is moved and positioned in the shift gate, which is not visible to the driver. All selector lever position are detected by the electronic selector lever module control unit, coded and transmitted to the ETC control unit via the engine compartment-Controller Area Network (CAN C) (N15/3).

At the same time as transmitting via CAN the selector lever positions "P", "R", "N " "D" are passed on mechanically to the range selector lever on the transmission side by means of a shift rod.

Shift ranges "1, 2, 3, 4, 5", up to which the electronic transmission control permits upshifting of the transmission, can be shifted via a sideways movement of the selector lever in selector lever position "D" (touch shift).
