GF82.62-P-5011LE Digital Sound Processor, Component Description

GF82.62-P-5011LE Digital Sound Processor, Component Description

MODEL 221
- with CODE (811) Advanced sound system
- as of model year 2011 /YoM 10

A2/69 Digital sound processor

Location
The digital sound processor is located in the left of the trunk behind the trunk lining.

Task
- Receive signals
- Decoding signals
- Amplification, support and processing of signals
- Transmit signals

Receive signals
The input signals are read in via the following connections:
- Direct lines
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

Direct lines
- Audio muting (MUTE)
- Visual and electrical wake-up
- Signals from sound amplifier microphone (B25/6)

MOST
The digital sound processor is a MOST subscriber and receives the audio signals from the following components:
- COMAND controller unit (A40/3)
- Audio tuner control unit (N93/1) (except code (494) USA version)
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) (with code (537) Digital radio)
- High definition tuner control unit (N87/8) (with code (517) HD radio)
- Emergency call system control unit (N123/4) (for code (359) TELE AID emergency call system)

Decoding signals
Decoding copy-protected audio signals based on the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology

DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the acoustic sound characteristics.

Support, amplification and processing of signals
- Surround sound (Logic 7) support
- Supporting 2 stereo entertainment channels and 3 announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions, etc.)
- Amplification of decoded audio signals
- Radio signals
- Vehicle speed signal for speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])
- Voice input from sound amplifier microphone for dynamic volume adaptation, dynamic range optimization (DRO)

Transmit signals
Direct lines
- 5-x line out (+ and -) for sound amplifier (A2/13)
- Remote for sound amplifier
- Output of signal tones (BEEPs), digital multiple channel output and output of decoded, volume-adapted and amplified audio signals over the following speakers:
- Speaker Left front door (H4/5)
- Right front door speaker (H4/6)
- Left front door tweeter (H4/33)
- Right front door tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

The digital sound processor routes the received audio signals to the speakers listed below over the sound amplifier. The following speakers are actuated by the sound amplifier over direct lines:
- Bass module speaker (H4/17)
- Left front door woofer (H4/64)
- Right front door woofer (H4/65)
- Left rear door woofer (H4/66)
- Right rear door woofer (H4/67)

Function
The digital sound processor is actuated over the COMAND controller unit. The COMAND controller unit also provides all menus for user guidance.
Moreover, the following subfunctions are available:
- Diagnosis
- Software download

Diagnosis
The diagnosis of the sound system amplifier control unit is performed using the Keyword 2000 protocol. All other control units in MOST are also diagnosed via this interface at the same time!

Software download
The update is carried out via the drive of the COMAND controller unit using a CD or DVD.
