Inspection Procedure and Vehicle Reassembly

INSPECTION PROCEDURE





1. With the vehicle parked set the parking brake and open the hood. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery and insulate it with electrical tape. Wait at least 60 seconds before proceeding.

REMINDER:
If the vehicle is not equipped with the optional OEM navigation unit please record all radio station presets and reprogram when repair is completed.





2. Remove the rear seat cushion.

3. Remove the access cover. You must use a flat head screwdriver and carefully pry it off.





4. On the right hand side of the rear seat area check for the presence of the fuel sending unit harness. If present continue to step 5.

If absent, proceed to the Replacement Procedure section.





5. Ensure that the fuel sending unit harness is properly connected to the body harness connection located near the right scuff plate. If not connected connect it.





6. Ensure that the fuel sending unit harness is properly connected to the sub-sending unit. If not connected connect it.

7. Remove the electrical tape and reconnect the negative (-) terminal of the 12V battery.

NOTE:
Use hand tools only. Torque specifications for the negative (-) terminal is 53 +/- 17 in-lb (6 +/- 2 N.m).

8. Inspection is complete. Replacement is not required. Proceed to the Vehicle Reassembly section.

Replacement Procedure





1. Carefully remove the right scuff plate and foam support.





2. Verify if the jumper harness is connected to the body harness connector located near the right scuff plate. If connected remove it.





3. Remove the body plug where the fuel sending unit harness is to be installed.

4. Install the fuel sending unit harness.





a. Place the connector through the hole and direct it to the sub-sending unit.





b. With your right hand reach under the vehicle floor through the access cover opening and pull the fuel sending unit harness through it.





c. Connect the fuel sending unit harness to the sub-sending unit.





d. Firmly seat the grommet in the hole.





e. Locate the wire harness clip and clip it to the floor.





f. Connect the other end of the fuel sending unit harness to the body harness connector near the right scuff plate.

g. Use vinyl tape to secure the wiring harness to the floor.





^ Remove the electrical tape and reconnect the negative (-) terminal of the 12V battery.

NOTE:
Use hand tools only. Torque specifications for the negative (-) terminal is 53 +/- 17 in-lb (6 +/- 2 N.m).

ERASE DTCs FROM ALL ECUs





1. Connect the equipment as follows:

^ Turn the laptop computer on.

^ Connect the USB cable to the VCI.

^ When the laptop displays the MUT-III main screen connect the USB cable to the laptop.

^ Connect the MUT-III main harness with the blue DLC connection to the VCI.

^ Connect the blue connector of the MUT-III main harness to the vehicle's data link connector.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.

NOTE:
Ensure all accessories are off (e.g. lights, heating and AC system, audio/navi unit, etc...).

3. From the MEDIC main page,

a. Click on MUT-III

b. Select "Special Function"

c. Select "All DTCs"

d. Select "Erase and read all DTCs"

4. If DTCs return, diagnose and repair per the service manual.

VEHICLE REASSEMBLY





1. Reinstall the access cover. If the old adhesive is not re-usable, you must apply new adhesive to properly seal the vehicle interior. Use 3M Window-weld(TM) Ribbon Sealer - Auto Glass Replacement Kit Part No.05113508610 or equivalent. Once the adhesive is properly set, line the groove of the access cover to the dimple on the vehicle floor and firmly reinstall the access cover.

2. Reinstall the foam support and right scuff plate.

3. Reinstall the rear seat. Ensure to align the rear seat belt buckles with the inserts in the rear seat.

4. If applicable, reprogram the radio station presets.
