Installation Instructions

Installation Notes:
-> Perform installation on a cool vehicle, as you may risk getting burned by hot coolant or the exhaust manifold when replacing the thermo switch.
-> Be careful when installing and torquing down the new thermo switch in the bottom radiator tank. The tank is made of plastic and the threads can be easily stripped.

-> Due to changes at the factory, the best way to identify the various connectors of the relay harness is to observe the length of wire attached as shown in figure 1.
-> Note the customer's radio station pre-sets and reset them along with the clock time when you are finished.

Installation

1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.

2. Locate the radiator thermo switch on the back side of the bottom radiator tank. Disconnect the vehicle harness from the switch as shown in figure 2, and attach the supplied joint connector to the vehicle harness as shown in figure 3 (where the thermo switch had been connected). Tape the joint connector to the vehicle harness.

3. Relieve radiator coolant pressure by slowly opening the radiator cap one notch. After all pressure is relieved tighten the radiator cap (This will slow down the loss of coolant as you replace the thermo switch). Replace the existing thermo switch with the new one supplied. Thermo switch tightening torque: 20-25 N-m (14-18 ft.lbs)

4. Connect the female 14 inch lead of the supplied relay harness to the new thermo switch as shown in figure 4. Route the new harness along the radiator shroud using an existing clip.

5. Mount the relay to the right front inner fender using the radiator reservoir mounting bolt as shown in figure 5.

6. Connect the square connector (18" lead) of the relay harness to the relay.

7. Disconnect the radiator fan motor from the vehicle harness as shown in figure 6.

8. Connect the female 7 inch lead of the relay harness to the fan motor as shown in figure 7.

9. Connect the male 2 inch lead of the relay harness to the vehicle wiring harness (where the fan had been connected) as shown in figure 8.

10. Use the straps to secure the relay harness to the shroud. Keep the harness away from sharp edges and rotate the fan by hand to make sure that the fan blades clear the harness.

11. Reconnect battery, top off any lost coolant and test drive vehicle to verify correct radiator cooling fan cycling and direction of air flow.
