This bulletin supercedes Safety Recall Bulletin SR-94-002. Please discard the previously distributed bulletin, SR-94-002. New information includes a new inspection procedure and an additional warranty sample screen.

PURPOSE

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) is voluntarily recalling some 1988 and 1989 Precis vehicles to have the heater valve stem replaced. A letter has been sent to all affected vehicle owners telling them to return their vehicles to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the heater valve stem replaced. A copy of this letter is illustrated on this bulletin.

Two heater valves were used in 1988-89 Precis Models. However, only one heater valve is subject to this recall. To determine which valve exists on each model, an inspection is required.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

This procedure applies only to certain 1988 and 1989 Precis vehicles manufactured between April 1, 1988 and April 30,1989. This recall does not apply to any other models.

REQUIRED OPERATION

Inspect the heater valve stem bracket and replace the appropriate valve stem.
