1989 - 1990 Galant
1990 Mirage

INPUT CHECKING

Input checks should be made when the auto-cruise control system cannot be set and when it is necessary to determine if the input signals are normal. Input checks are required when a malfunction related to the auto-cruise control system occurs. There are two ways to perform input checks: with the Multi-Use Tester or with a Voltmeter.

NOTE: Display codes are displayed only if the circuit is normal according to the conditions shown in the input check table shown in the appropriate Service Manual. Configuring the Multi-Use Tester is the same as for the self-diagnosis check.

- WITH MULTI-USE TESTER

(1) Turn the ignition switch ON, and switch OFF the cruise control main switch.

(2) Select the cruise control system from the multi-use tester's menu.

(3) With the cruise control SET switch in the ON position, turn the cruise control MAIN switch ON. Then, within one second, move the cruise control RESUME switch into the ON position.

(4) Read the self-diagnosis code from the multi-use tester's menu.

(5) Perform each input operation according to the input check table in the appropriate service manual and read the codes.

- WITH VOLTMETER

(1) The voltmeter is set in the same way as for the self-diagnosis check. Refer to the appropriate service manual for specific voltmeter connection locations.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON and switch OFF the cruise control main switch.

(3) With the cruise control SET switch in the ON position, turn the cruise control MAIN switch ON. Then, within one second, move the cruise control RESUME switch into the ON position.

(4) Perform each input operation according to the input check table in the appropriate service manual and read the codes.
