Installation Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Cut off the blank nipple on the speedometer cable grommet. Obtain the Wiring, A/C Extension from the Extension Wiring Repair Kit. From the engine compartment side, push the four terminals of the new extension wiring harness through the newly opened hole in the speedometer cable grommet (Figure 1).

3. Remove the two mounting bolts from the relay box behind the left lower dash area and lower it (Figure 2).

4. Remove and discard the existing A/C relay.

5. Install the four loose terminals from the end of the new extension wiring harness into the new blank connector supplied in the parts kit (Figure 3).

CAUTION: Be sure to insert the wires into the correct positions on the new connector.

6. Cut the rib off the original air conditioning relay mounting connector on the relay box (Figure 4).

7. Plug the new extension wiring harness into the original A/C relay location (Figure 5). Reinstall the relay box.

8. Untie the strap securing the multi-function switch and ignition wires (Figure 6). Route the new extension wiring harness along side of those wires. Re-tie with the original strap.

CAUTION: Make sure that the new extension wiring harness is not rubbing against any sharp edges and is not interfering with the operation of any moving parts.

9. Using one of the bolts provided, install the relay adapter bracket to the weld nut on the left side of the engine compartment, near the strut tower (Figure 7).

10. Connect the new A/C relay to the connector on the new extension wiring harness.

11. Using the remaining bolt provided, install the relay to the adaptor bracket (Figure 8).

12. Put sealant around the wiring harness at the speedometer grommet in the engine compartment to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment.

13. Reconnect the battery ground cable and check for proper air conditioning operation.
