1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. On 1990 models, tape and isolate battery ground cable terminal. Wait at least 30 seconds before proceeding.
4. On all models, remove instrument cluster hood plugs using a screwdriver.
5. Remove instrument cluster hood attaching screws, then the cluster hood.
6. Remove instrument cluster attaching screws, Fig. 8, then pull cluster slightly forward and disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connectors.
7. Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. On 1990 models, ensure no one is inside of vehicle, then rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
