TIMING BELT TENSIONER - SERVICE MANUAL SUPPLEMENT

PURPOSE
Due to a change in shape of the timing belt tensioner used on the 1990 Sigma, timing belt tensioner installation procedures have been modified. As a reference to this bulletin, please insert the TSB revision number in the TSB revision box located at the bottom of each affected page.

DETAILS OF CHANGE
The tensioner adjusting hole of the timing belt tensioner has been changed from an eyebrow design to a straight oval. A tensioner installing tab has also been added. See Figure 1.

Because of this change, timing belt removal and installation procedures have been modified to incorporate a more precise tensioner installing technique. See Figure 2.
Revise the following Service Manual pages as indicated:
Page 11-39 (Add step 32.)

Page 11-41 (Revise step 32.3. Utilize revised TSB illustration.)
Page 11-41 (Revise step 31.6)
PARTS INFORMATION
The new timing belt tensioner (part number MD104578) retains the same part number as the previous tensioner. When ordering the number through your PDC, you will automatically get the newly designed part.
