Component Tests and General Diagnostics
WIPER MOTORFig. 48 Front Wiper Connector Identification:
Refer to Fig. 48 for connector terminal identification.
High & Low Speed Operation Check
1. Connect battery positive to terminal 1 and battery negative to terminal 3, ensure low speed operation.
2. Connect battery positive to terminal 1 and battery negative to terminal 2, ensure high speed operation.
Automatic Stop Operation Check
1. Connect battery positive to terminal 1 and battery negative to terminal 3, to run motor at low speed.
2. Connect terminal 3 to terminal 6, connect battery positive to terminal 1.
4. Ensure motor starts to run then stops.
MAGNET COIL & SWITCH CHECK
Fig. 49 Magnet Coil & Switch Check:
1. Connect ohmmeter between terminals 5 and 7 Fig. 49, resistance should be 4-5 ohms.
2. Check continuity between terminal 7 and ground. With wipers at rest there should be no continuity, all other time continuity should exist.
WIPER CONTROL RELAY
Fig. 50 Wiper Control Relay Connector Identification:
Refer to Fig. 50 for wiper control terminal identification.
1. With battery voltage applied to terminals 6 and ground terminal 7, check for continuity between terminals 2-5 and 3-4.
2. With battery voltage applied to terminals 7 and ground terminal 8, check for continuity between terminals 1-5 and 3-9.
3. Battery voltage should not be applied for longer than one minute.
WASHER MOTOR CHECK
Fig. 51 Washer Motor Connector Identification:
1. Check motor when it is installed in washer tank.
2. Connect battery positive and negative as shown in Fig. 51.
3. Ensure washer pump operation.
WIPER & WASHER SWITCH CHECK
Fig. 52 Wiper & Washer Switch Connector Identification:
1. Remove column cover, then disconnect column switch connector.
2. Check continuity between terminals as shown in Fig. 52.
