Combination Meters
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Remove knee protector as follows:
a. Remove hood lock handle.
b. Remove rheostat and switch garnish.
c. Remove knee protector screws and knee protector.
3. Remove upper and lower steering column cover screws then remove covers ensuring not to break cover grippers, Fig. 11.
4. Remove metal bezel, Fig. 15.
5. Remove combination meter attaching screws.
6. On models with mechanical speedometer, disconnect speedometer cable at transaxle end of cable.
7. On all models, pull combination meter slightly toward vehicle interior, release wiring harness and speedometer adapter (if equipped) by turning to left or right.
8. Reverse procedure to install, rearming the airbag system as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
Combination Gauges
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Remove instrument panel.
3. Remove air distribution duct.
4. Disconnect combination gauge electrical connections.
5. Remove combination gauge attaching screws then the combination gauges.
6. Reverse procedure to install, rearming the airbag system as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
