PURPOSE
A revised procedure has been established for removing the A/T differential bearing retainer. Please write this TSB revision number in the TSB revision box located at the bottom of the affected Service Manual pages.

DESCRIPTION
To provide easier removal of the A/T differential bearing retainer, two threaded bolt holes have been added (Figure 1).

The retainer is removed by inserting a M8 x 30 bolt into each hole, turning them alternately and evenly until the retainer is unseated (Figure 2).
When performing this procedure, the following precautions must be observed:

- To prevent retainer thread damage, use bolts that are threaded from head to tip (Figure 3).
- Make sure the bolts have squared, smooth tips (Figure 3).
- Do not use power tools. Use hand tools only.
- To prevent damage to transaxle case, tighten both bolts alternately and evenly.
Revise the Service Manual pages as indicated.
