SUBJECT: THERMOSTAT INSTALLATION



PURPOSE

1991 3000GT models built after October 2, 1990 incorporate a new cooling system thermostat design. The new design thermostat incorporates a rubber ring around the mounting flange. This rubber ring replaces the conventional thermostat gasket. The thermostat case has been machined with a 4.1 mm recess which allows clearance for the rubber ring and provides the correct sealing surface.

CAUTION: Do not use a gasket with thermostats equipped with a rubber ring.

When replacing the thermostat it is important to determine the type of thermostat (with ring vs. without ring) before installation. Use of the wrong thermostat may cause damage to the case, thermostat, or engine.





PARTS INFORMATION

Thermostats, cases and gaskets are not interchangeable.
