VIBRATION ON ACCELERATION





PURPOSE

This bulletin describes the repair procedures necessary when you encounter a 3000GT VR4 manufactured before August 20, 1990, which exhibits a very low frequency vibration or thumping in the floor pan area on hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. To correct this condition the two 3.2 mm spacers must be moved from the front center bearing support to the rear center bearing support.

Self Locking nut: MF445005 (4 required)

REPAIR PROCEDURE


1. Loosen but do not remove the 2 self locking nuts from the rear center support.

2. Support the propeller shaft. Remove and discard the 2 self locking nuts from the front center support. Remove both 3.2 mm spacers (above the upper insulator). Reinstall the insulators and lower washer. Using new self locking nuts, finger tighten the self locking nuts.

3. Remove and discard the 2 self locking nuts from the rear center support. Carefully lower the propeller shaft. Place the 3.2 mm spacers (which were removed from the front center support) above the existing spacers. Reinstall the insulators and lower washers. Using new self locking nuts, finger tighten the nuts.

4. Torque all 4 self locking nuts to 30 N-m (22 ft.lbs.).
