Transaxle Identification

1. Raise the vehicle on a vehicle hoist. Use procedures and hoist points as specified in the 1991 3000GT service manual.

Note:
When raised, the vehicle must be level for proper oil drainage/refilling if necessary.





2. Check the identification number on the bottom of the transfer case extension housing. The ID number must begin with an "M". The number should be between "MAA0001" and "MBC01000. If the number does not fall between this range, no repairs are necessary, then submit an inspection only claim.

Note:
Quick reference: transfer cases beginning with "N" are of a later design and are not affected by this recall.





3. Look for a blue or black mark on the transfer case or extension housing bottom. A blue or black mark indicates that repairs have been made no repairs are necessary, then submit an inspection only claim.

If the transfer case has been identified as being affected (no mark and within the ID number range) proceed with TRANSFER CASE VISUAL LEAKAGE INSPECTION.
