Alignment - 4 Wheel Steering Rear Camber/Toe

NO.: TSB-92-37B-001

DATE: November, 1992

MODEL: 91-92 GALANT VR4, 91-93 3000GT VR4

SUBJECT:
4 WHEEL STEERING - REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

PURPOSE

When adjusting camber and toe-in on 3000GT VR4 vehicles you MUST first disconnect the 4-wheel steering tie rod ends from the trailing arms. If the tie-rod ends are not disconnected, the 4-wheel steering system will restrict the amount of toe adjustment and alter the alignment angles. Use the following procedure when performing a rear wheel alignment.

1. Disconnect the 4-wheel steering tie rod ends from the trailing arm.

2. Adjust camber and toe-in as described in the service manual. Write down the final readings.

3. Reconnect the 4-wheel steering tie rod ends to the trailing arm.

4. Adjust the tie-rod ends to match the previous toe-in readings.

CAUTION:
Failure to disconnect 4-wheel steering tie rod ends before adjustment may cause damage to the rear wheel alignment adjustment cams and cause pressure on the 4-wheel steering system. Also the alignment angles will be seriously altered if the tie-rod length is not correct.
