1. On all models, disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering wheel.
3. On 1989 models, remove steering column shroud cover.
4. On all models, remove steering column upper and lower shroud, Figs. 10 and 11.
5. On 1989 models, remove instrument panel screw covers from lower crash pad.
6. On all models, remove hood release handle retaining screws, then the hood release handle.
7. On 1990-92 models, remove center bezel assembly.
8. On all models, remove left side lower crash pad retaining screws, then pull crash pad outward and disconnect electrical connector.

9. On 1989 models, remove front and rear console assembly as follows:
a. Remove main console retaining screws, then the main console, Fig. 12.
b. Remove supplement console retaining screws, the the supplement console.
10. On all models, remove glove box.
11. On 1989 models, remove cigarette lighter and ashtray.
12. On all models, remove right side lower crash pad retaining screws, then pull crash pad outward and disconnect electrical connectors.
13. Disconnect instrument panel to dash panel electrical connector.
14. Remove cluster housing assembly.
15. Disconnect cluster housing switch electrical connector and remove illumination lamp.
16. Remove cluster assembly retaining screws, then pull cluster assembly outward and disconnect speedometer cable and cluster assembly electrical connectors.
17. On 1989 models, remove radio and cassette player.
18. Disconnect heater control wire from heater and blower assembly.
19. Remove instrument panel to heater bracket retaining bolts.
20. Remove instrument panel retaining bolt covers from top of instrument panel.
21. On 1990-92 models, remove front speaker grilles and speakers.

22. On all models, remove instrument panel retaining bolts, then the instrument panel.
22. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following adjustments:
a. On 1989 models, remove clamp from DEF-VENT mounting boss.
b. Set tube in clamp groove, Fig. 13, and cable in cam pin.
c. Move control knob to cam pin lowest position, then set knob to the DEF position.
d. Secure heater clamp.
e. Remove clamp from COOL-WARM mounting boss, Fig. 14.
f. Set tube into clamp, then insert cable to the COOL--WARM lever pin at the highest position (warm mode) and set control knob to the DEF position.
g. Secure tube to the heater holder.
h. Remove clamp from FRESH--RECIRC mounting boss.
i. Move tube to the FRESH--RECIRC lever pin and put tube inside clamp, Fig. 15.
j. Move lever fully backward, then secure control knob to the RECIRC position.
