SPEEDOMETER CABLE CUSHION PAD
INSTALLATION


PURPOSE

This bulletin describes a speedometer cable cushion pad replacement procedure which may reduce a noise coming from the speedometer cable on some 1991 Precis vehicles manufactured before May 10, 1991. This sponge rubber anti-noise cushion replaces the existing rubber speedometer cushion which is already on the cable.

Cushion pad installation labor code: 94240R0F
Time allowance: 0.2 hr.

NOTE: The "O's" in the above labor code is the number ZERO.


CUSHION INSTALLATION

Figure 1:

1. Detach the speedometer cable from the transaxle (Figure 1).

Figure 2:

2. By hand, remove the existing sponge pad from the speedometer cable (Figure 2).

Figure 3:

3. Install the new cushion pad onto the speedometer cable in the same location as the original pad (Figure 3)

Figure 4:

4. Twist the cushion around the speedometer cable (Figure 4). Apply weatherstrip adhesive (3M part number # 8001 or equivalent) to the ends of the cushion.

5. Reattach the speedometer cable to the transaxle.
