B. Catalytic Convertor Inspection






1. Remove the catalytic converter by loosening the two bolts and two nuts securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipes.






2. Inspect the catalytic converter for evidence of damage:
- Internal rattling noise when shaking the catalytic converter.
- Light cannot be seen when looking through the catalytic converter.
- No catalytic element (monolith/honey-comb) present.
- Crack in the catalytic element.
- Catalytic element is partially broken or the bottom of it appears sunken when viewed from the front of converter.
- The mat (mesh) covering the catalytic element cannot be seen.

3. If any of the above conditions exist, replace the catalytic converter.
4. If the catalytic converter exhibits none of the above conditions, reinstall it, using new gaskets, bolts and nuts provided in the Campaign Repair Kit.
5. Proceed to the Fuel Pump Inspection section of this bulletin.
