Multi-use Tester, Installed:
CAUTION:
- Connection and disconnection of the scan tool should only be done with the ignition key in the OFF position.
- Always use the correct ROM pack for the vehicle being tested.
PURPOSE
The Multi-Use Tester is a diagnostic read-out box--Scan tool--designed by Mitsubishi to;
- Read system performance information stored in various system controller memories.
- Display fault messages stored in the various system controller memories.
- Allow technicians to test computer-controlled vehicle systems through circuit actuation.
- Lead technicians through the diagnostic procedures when used in conjunction with this reference.
NOTE:
There are scan tools available from other manufacturers which can be used on these vehicles.
- The procedures outlined in this reference were designed specifically for use with the Multi-Use Tester diagnostic read-out box.
- It is assumed in the following procedures that the Multi-Use Tester is being used.
OPERATION
The Multi-Use Tester operates by communicating with the controller for the vehicle system being tested.
To perform diagnostic tests;
- Insert the appropriate program cartridge into the Multi-Use Tester and connect the power supply cable to the positive terminal of the battery, or the cigarette lighter.
