Engine: Service and Repair
1. Release fuel system pressure as outlined under Technician Safety Information.2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Mark hood hinge bolt location on hood, then remove hood.
4. Drain cooling system into an approved container.
5. Remove transaxle assembly as outlined under Transmission and Drivetrain.
6. Remove radiator assembly.

7. Remove engine assembly in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 2, noting following:
a. Remove power steering pump with hoses attached, then support aside.
b. Remove air conditioner compressor with hoses attached, then support aside.
c. Support engine using a suitable jack stand.
d. Remove engine hanger tool used when transaxle was removed.
e. Support engine using a chain and suitable engine lifting device.
f. Raise engine slightly to remove weight off mounts then remove engine mounts.
g. Ensure all electrical and hose connections are disconnected then raise engine assembly out of vehicle.
h. Always insert a piece of wood between engine hanger assembly and front deck. Do not pinch hood weatherstrip between front deck and piece of wood.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Using a floor jack and a piece of wood, support engine on oil pan, then install engine mount bracket while adjusting position of engine.
b. Remove engine lifting device allowing engine hanger tool to support engine until transaxle is installed.
