Removal and Replacement

1. Release fuel system pressure as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Mark hood hinge bolt location on hood, then remove hood.
4. Drain cooling system into a suitable container.
5. Remove radiator assembly.
6. Remove power steering pump and air conditioner compressor without disconnecting hoses, then support aside.

7. Remove engine assembly in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 3, noting following:
a. When transaxle assembly is removed, center member assembly has also been removed.
b. Support engine using a floor jack and remove engine hanger assembly.
c. Support engine using a chain and suitable engine lifting device.
d. Raise engine slightly to remove weight off mounts then remove engine mounts.
e. Ensure all electrical and hose connections are disconnected then raise engine assembly out of vehicle.
f. Always insert a piece of wood between engine hanger assembly and front deck. Also, do not pinch hood weatherstrip between front deck and piece of wood.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Using a floor jack and a piece of wood, support engine on oil pan then install engine mount bracket while adjusting position of engine.
b. Remove engine lifting device as allow engine hanger tool to support engine until transaxle is installed.
