The shift lever assembly has two microswitches that control shifting. If the vehicle does not upshift or downshift properly, listen for the microswitches to make a clicking noise, indicating they have reset. If a microswitch does not click, slightly adjust the switch lever arm by bending, then confirm correct operation. Also, verify that the third microswitch is activated by the lever shaft when the lever is moved from automatic to manual shifting.
