DTC B1761: VIN Not Recorded

CAUTION:
Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)

If the VIN data are not written when the ETACS-ECU is replaced, the ETACS-ECU sets diagnosis code No.B1761.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

- VIN not written
- Damaged harness wires and connectors
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tools:

- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A

Write the VIN.

Write the VIN data to the ETACS-ECU. [ Testing and Inspection.]

Q. Is DTC B1761 set?

YES Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes. (Refer to Encrypted Code Registration Criteria Table.)
NO The procedure is complete.
