SERVICE INFORMATION

Dealer installation of the ET-1000 AM/FM Combo Radio (Nissan P/N B8026-C9920) in 1987 Sentra or Stanza models requires a modification to the wiring harness which exits from the rear of the radio. The following service procedure must be applied to restore the radio's internal illumination feature.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Prior to installation, locate the radio harness (this harness uses a 10-terminal pin connector).

2. Identify the solid black and solid white wires.

3. Cut the white wire close to the 10-terminal pin connector. Remove an additional 2" length from the white wire segment exiting from the radio. Strip 3/8" of insulation from this wire segment.

4. Cut the black wire at a point where it will meet the white wire segment. Strip 3/8" of insulation from each end of the black wire (Figure 1).

5. Insert the white and black wires through a 2" piece of heat shrink tubing. Twist the ends of the black and white wires together; then, splice them to the black wire segment exiting from the 10-terminal pin connector. Solder the three ends at this junction.

6. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the new junction. Using a heat gun, apply sufficient heat to reduce and secure the tubing.
