SERVICE INFORMATION
Some early production 1987 Stanza vehicles may exhibit hood vibration at idle which may be objectional to some customers. Vehicles built within the Applied VIN Range above can be improved by applying additional adhesive between the hood and the reinforcing panel as described in this bulletin. On M/T models, a hood insulator should also be installed.

The instructions provided by 3M in the Hood Flutter Repair Kit are general in nature. The specific preparation and the application procedure is described below. Use the 3M Mixing Instructions after reading the directions below.
Directions For Use
1. Raise the hood and carefully remove hood insulator blanket found on automatic transaxle (A/T) models. Place the insulator (A/T models) or sheet of cardboard (M/T models) over the engine area to protect it from adhesive drips. Clean the area shown below with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (3M P/N 08984) and allow to dry.
HOOD FLUTTER REPAIR PROCEDURE:
2. Apply a generous daub of adhesive (from 3M repair kit) between the inner and outer panels where shown in the illustration.
3. Lower the hood to the secondary latch and allow one hour for proper cure.
4. A. A/T Models: Raise hood and reinstall the hood insulator using 15 new clips (P/N 65832-F5000).
B. M/T Models: Raise hood and install a hood insulator (P/N 65840-D4500) using 15 clips (P/N 65832-F5000).
