200SX Coupe (Notch)
1. Remove lower seat cushion. After removing two retaining screws, the seat back may be removed.
2. Remove front seat belt upper anchor and belt access finisher. Pull quarter panel lower trim away from its mount (top portion only - see illustration below).
NOTE: Be sure to keep the insulator pad in place.
3. Remove the outer pad on the rear pillar finisher, then remove the finisher. The outer pad may be discarded; it will be replaced with a retro-fit pad later in the procedure.
4. The rear pillar finisher requires trimming/drilling to provide access for the 3-point belt. The belt access hole is factory pre-scribed and is illustrated below. Cut the area as indicated.
5. Locate the drilling point in the pillar finisher. The factory pre-scribed mark is illustrated below:
6. Drill a 1" hole in each pillar finisher at the marked location using a hole saw.
7. Remove original retractor unit.
8. Remove original female buckle assembly.
9. Install the retro-fit retractor unit by installing mounting bolt and locating screw. Refer to illustration below for mounting position.
NOTE: Mounting bolt torque is 26-32 ft.lbs. (3.65-4.65 kg/m).
10. Feed retro-fit belt through the rear pillar finisher and reinstall the finisher. Also, feed the belt through the retro-fit pad and install the pad onto the rear pillar finisher.
11. Install belt access finisher onto the retro-fit pad.
12. Reinstall lower quarter panel trim and belt access finisher.
13. Bolt the upper anchor into the rear pillar where the 1" hole was drilled. Torque mounting bolt to 26-32 ft.lbs. (3.65-4.65 kg/m).
14. Reinstall front belt upper anchor. Torque to 26-32 ft.lbs. (3.65-4.65 kg/m).
15. Bolt in retro-fit belt lower anchor (where original retractor unit bolted in). Torque anchor bolt to 26-32 ft.lbs. (3.65-4.65 kg/m).
16. Install retro-fit female buckle assembly. Torque anchor bolt to 26-32 ft.lbs. (3.65-4.65 kg/m).
17. Check retractor unit and buckle assembly for smooth operation.
18. Reinstall seat back and lower cushion.
