Operation 2 Sandblast and Prime Outer Wheel House Panel
Kits Required: Kit A1. Remove the fuel filler tube as outlined in Fuel Filler Tube Removal.
2. In the wheel house, use a sand blaster to remove all corrosion from the wheel house, the seams and around the fuel filler area. Thoroughly clean the area to remove sand particles and dust.
A. If perforations are detected after sandblasting, contact the Nissan dealership from which the vehicle came and request Kit C for resin matte application. Skip the remaining steps and perform Operation 3, Repair Perforations In Outer Wheel House Panel with Resin Patches.
3. Spray a thin coat of DuPont aerosol primer (DuPont P/N 215S) on all surfaces where bare metal is exposed.
NOTE:
Check local VOC regulations for applicable products in your area.
4. Apply Lord(R) Chemicals Fusor(R) Urethane Sealer/Adhesive P/N 800 to sandblasted panel seams. Use a brush to smooth the sealer for good seam coverage.
5. Install the new fuel filler tube as outlined in Fuel Filler Tube Installation. Do not install the protective cover.
6. Install the wheel. Torque the bolts to 72-87 ft-lb (98-118 N.m). Lower the vehicle.
7. Do not install, but keep in the vehicle:
^ Seat belt anchor bolt and spacer
^ Trunk finisher
^ Trunk carpet
^ Retractor cover
^ Fuel filler tube protective cover
^ Original fuel filler tube in the plastic bag and cardboard box for dealer part retention.
8. Prepare the vehicle for delivery back to the dealer.
