Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Dealer Responsibility

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY:

1. It is the Dealer's responsibility to check each vehicle falling within the range of this Campaign, which. for any reason, enters the Service Department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in Dealer inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in Dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

2. The Dealer must install the Campaign label (Figure 2) next to the underhood emissions label when the installation has been completed. Campaign labels can be ordered from your Regional Office.

SPECIAL CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE FEATURES:

Nissan authorizes Dealers to provide customers with a free loaner/rental car for twenty-four (24) hours, should alternate transportation be required. In addition, Nissan will reimburse Dealers for pick up and delivery of the customer's vehicle, if the customer requests this service. The maximum reimbursement for pick up and delivery is $100.00.

SPECIAL NOTICE CONCERNING ALTIMA (U13) FUEL PUMP CAMPAIGN:

Dealers should be aware that approximately 17,000 vehicles affected by this Recall Campaign are also included in the Sentra (B13)/Altima (U13) Fuel Pump Service Campaign [See Campaign Bulletin 93-U3005, published December 2, 1993]. When these vehicles are presented for the Recall Campaign, they should also have the fuel pump replaced to minimize customer inconvenience. The owners of these 17,000 Altimas will be notified of the Fuel Pump Service Campaign in conjunction with this Recall Campaign notification.
