SERVICE INFORMATION

If squeak/squeal noises are heard from the rear of a 1993-96 Altima when the brakes are applied, the cause may be the rear brake shoes. Countermeasure rear brake shoes have been developed to reduce the possibility of squeak/squeal type noises.

Continue to use the current brake shoes specified in the parts fiche for Altima's not exhibiting rear brake noise.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Verify the noise is from the rear brakes.
2. Replace the brakes with the part set listed below.
