SERVICE INFORMATION
If the power seat lift adjustment on a 1995,1996 or early 1997 Maxima is not working, the plastic output gear of the lift motor may be stripped.

Use the information in this bulletin to diagnose and repair this incident.

A countermeasure adjuster assembly and finisher assembly are available to address this incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. To verify this condition, operate the lift switch while sitting in the seat.

2. Listen for the motor operation and watch the seat for a change in height.

3. If there is no seat movement, remove the motor from the seat frame and inspect the plastic gear (see Figure 1).

4. If the plastic gear is stripped, use the procedures in the BT section of the service manual to replace the adjuster assembly and finisher assembly with the countermeasure parts

Individual countermeasure parts are not interchangeable - replace them as a set only.
