A/T - 4 Speed A/T Will Not Shift Out of PARK: Overview

2005 ALTIMA; 4SPD A/T WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK

This bulletin amends NTB04-098. This version amends the Service Procedure by adding inspection and repair of the A/T shift assembly. Please discard all previous copies of this bulletin.

APPLIED VEHICLE: 2005 Altima (L31) with 4 speed A/T only

IF YOU CONFIRM

The Automatic Transmission shifter will not move out of the Park position with the ignition ON and the brake pedal depressed,

NOTE:
This incident, if it occurs, may be intermittent.

ACTION

1. Remove the A/T shift assembly and check to see if a small rubber bumper is missing or not (see step 15 in the Service Procedure).

2. If needed, install the Noise Damper Kit listed in the Parts Information (see step 15 in the Service Procedure).

3. If the small rubber bumper was not missing, replace the Shift Lock Control Unit with the one listed in the Parts Information.
