DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT

Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
- Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect negative and positive battery cables, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- Do not insert any foreign objects (screwdriver, etc.) into diagnosis sensor unit or harness connectors.
- Do not attempt to disassemble diagnosis sensor unit.
- Do not use old bolts. Replace with new ones.
- Check diagnosis sensor unit bracket to ensure it is free of deformities, dents, cracks or rust. If it shows any visible signs of damage, replace with new one.
- Replace diagnosis sensor unit if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative and positive battery cables, then wait at least 3 minutes.
2. Disconnect each air bag module and seat belt pre-tensioner harness connectors. For driver air bag module, refer to "Removal and Installation" ; for front passenger air bag module, refer to "Removal and Installation" ; for side curtain air bag module, refer to "Removal and Installation" ; for seat belt pre-tensioner, refer to "Removal and Installation" .
3. Remove center console.
4. Disconnect diagnosis sensor unit connectors.




5. Remove special hex bolts from the diagnosis sensor unit.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- After replacement of diagnosis sensor unit, perform self-diagnosis to check that no malfunction is detected. Refer to SRS-20, "SRS Operation Check" . [1][2]Component Tests and General Diagnostics

CAUTION:
- The diagnosis sensor unit must always be installed with the arrow mark "<=" pointing toward the front of the vehicle for proper operation.
- Check the diagnosis sensor unit for proper installation.

ECU DISCRIMINATED NO.
After replacing the diagnosis sensor unit, confirm that the diagnosis sensor unit identification is correct for the vehicle as equipped. Refer to "CONSULT-II Function (AIR BAG)" .
